Biography:
Hugh Fraser was the third son of Hugh Fraser and Jane Bunting. In 1887, he joined his elder brothers, James Arthur and John, as a partner of Fraser Sons & Co, working alongside his father's trustees. In 1894, the co-partnership was dissolved and the three brothers commenced in business as sole partners. In 1906, following the retirement of his brothers, Hugh was left in sole command of the business. He immediately embarked on an extensive refurbishment programme. In 1909, Fraser Sons & Co was registered as a private company and Hugh, together with James Arthur and John, were appointed directors.
In the 1890s, Hugh was obliged by ill health to spend time in Australia. He died in August 1927 after a long illness. The whole of his holding in Fraser Sons & Co Ltd was transferred to his son, Hugh.
