Private ledgers containing the following accounts: joint capital, interest, profit, horse and carriage, property in Saltmarket and Bell Street and personal accounts for Robert Wylie, William Lochhead and Messrs Coneybear & Butler. It also contains balance sheets. There are indexes to the accounts in the front of each volume.
The ledgers also include signed agreements, 1847-1849, between Robert Wylie and William Lochhead relating to the division of the company's profits between the two men.
Additional information:
This series of private ledgers appears to have been superseded or replaced by another private ledger, 1835-1882 (ref: FRAS 249). There is considerable overlap between the two series but it appears that some of the amounts in FRAS 248 were altered and these new amounts copied into FRAS 249. This supposition is supported by the fact that next to some of the entries in FRAS 248 are new amounts written in pencil which correspond to the amounts recorded in FRAS 249.
