Army & Navy Stores (Bromley) Ltd, department store retailers, was incorporated as a private limited company in 1931. At the time of incorporation, the company was known as P Martin Ltd, and traded from premises in the High Street in Andover. The company's name was changed for the first time in 1940, when it became Parson & Hart Ltd. Parson & Hart Ltd was bought by Army & Navy Stores Ltd in 1965. They had sold the company premises in Andover to Woolworths by 1967, and in 1968 changed the name of the company to Harveys of Bromley Ltd.
In 1968 the company bought the Bromley stores of Harrison Gibson Ltd, one of which had been almost completely destroyed in a fire. On this site on the High Street a new store was rebuilt, and opened in 1970. The older store on Ringers Road was connected to the new by a walkway over the High Street. At this time, the company name changed again, this time to Army & Navy Stores (Bromley) Ltd, to bring it into line with the branding of the rest of the Army & Navy group. Army & Navy Stores Ltd was bought by House of Fraser in 1973 who no loger trade from the Bromley store
